Lady of the Phlox

All Photos by MB

Lady might be a little old of a title for my 10 year old sister here.
But I came up with this idea of doing a photo shoot titled "Lady of the Phlox" and she was the only available model at the moment. What can I say, when inspiration strikes, I just want to grab my camera and go. There are a lot of phlox in our backyard as you can see, and that's where the idea came from.

If the sun had shown his face these pictures would be much better, but alas it was cloudy by the time we got her dressed and out there. If we hadn't done the shoot she would have been quite mad considering that I put her through costume, hair, and makeup.

My favorite is the last picture here.

On another note, I'm starting a summer course tomorrow. I'm taking Introductory Photography, and I am extremely excited. This will be the first photography class I've ever taken, and I can't wait to work in a dark room and develop my own photos! It promises to be a cool experience.

  3. Cloudy skies usually make better pix because the colors are richer. My favorite is #7. ( I think I counted right.) Have fun with your photography class. I really enjoyed mine those many years ago.

    1. Yes! I don't mind cloudy days, it's just that my camera wanted to use the flash and it didn't work well lol
Thank you though, I look forward to seeing how this class will go - starting tomorrow!

  4. Hi there! I was following some GBE2 blogs and wind up here. These are all wonderful shots and the lack of sunshine only adds to the soft romantic feel you have captured.

    Great shots!

If I hadn't looked at your profile before commenting, I would have guessed you were much older. These shots show a maturity beyond your actual age. If I had any suggestions it would be to include more eye contact with the subject. Having said that, I must admit, my favorites are the first and last one (no eye contact, haha!)

    1. Hello! Welcome! So happy you enjoyed a few photos here. As for the limited eye contact I included here, it was intentional. I wanted to keep some kind of mystery tied to the "Lady", I almost didn't include any with her face at all. But I do appreciate the feedback and thank you for it.

It's funny, I wonder hold old people would think I am if they never saw my face! :) Thanks for stopping by.
