Traveling Feet

Today was a beautiful day. I think it's funny that I got this idea to photograph my feet, because I'm not really a fan of my feet. They're small, but vexingly wide, which makes shoes that fit nicely hard to find. I just don't like the way they look, but I thought maybe if I focused on them like this I would somehow not hate them so much. I don't think it worked, but hey I'm going past my dislike for their shape and turning it into art (if that's what you could call it).

Anyhow, enough with my feet criticism! I started off walking with my flip-flops on, but because I'm just a country girl, I soon lost the shoes and went through the woods, mud, and water barefoot. Just the way I like it. It was wonderful, especially getting my feet in that water.

Eh, so this is kind of a different post, but when I get an idea I have to do it!

And Mr. Weather, why do you have me wanting to wear shorts and think of summer when it's only march? You scare me sir. If you get any warmer, I can't imagine what you'll be sending down in August! Slow down buddy.

Also this half-irish girl would like to wish you all a wonderful St. Patrick's Day!

Shenanigans

Every time I hear this word, I now think of a project from last semester...

Photography and Art Work by Mary Beth Osborn

Some of you may know I'm a Communication Design (think graphic design, only broader) student. I'm a freshman in my program and this project was from my first semester.
For this project, the teacher sent around an envelope, and from it we each picked a word. Clearly I got the word "Shenanigans". We were assigned to take the word and then illustrate it in a way that communicates the meaning of the word, with the thought that even if someone didn't know what the word meant, that they could somehow tell by looking at it.

And so here is what I came up with.

You finally get to see some of my design work! Cheering? Excitement? Nothing. Ok lets continue...

You can see all the sketches I went through, I don't know how many times I wrote the word "Shenanigans" by the time this project was done. So you can see why it would come to mind every time I hear or see this word!

The final piece is completely hand-drafted in marker. The mounting is also done by hand: hinged window matte and all! The design, of course, is original.

And so now I will forever have a history with the word Shenanigans, that mischievous little rascal!

This post was done for the GBE 2: Blog On group on Facebook, this week's topic: Shenanigans. Not sponsored or any of that jazz.

What My Evening Looks Like

This is me this evening.

After a tired day, I'm taking a short break, sitting on the couch with a delicious and healthy snack, and watching episodes of Friends

Today was one of those days I wish I could have just stayed in bed and slept for most of the day. Ah! But when that alarm went off at 7am I become a walking body of tiredness. Today was colder out than it has been in a while, so I blame that for my want of the warmth of my bed and some good cozy sleep.

Now to do a little homework and then eventually get some much wanted sleep.

What does your evening look like?

A new header

I don't know if you've noticed, but I have a new header! I created it this morning when I was inspired looking at a few blogs. I really like it, and I think it's much better than what was there before, which pretty much default. I wanted something simple, but nice. So there you go, I made that!

I also made one for my other blog, but I don't like it as much as this one.

Everyone seemed to like my switch-up with the black and white last post, so I included a mix in this one.

This Sunday has been nice so far, I just got back from Mass and it was really nice this week! Sometimes I'll eat up the words at Mass, and other times I try to keep my mind from drifting - thus is life! This time really made me think that I need to really start reading the bible and talk to God more. Lent really has a way of making you rethink things. I'm thankful for lent this year, I really needed it.

I seem to be loving this blog more lately, even though I know less people follow it. You guys who follow this one? You're freaking awesome, keep up being amazing. Have a completely, mind-blowingly, awesome week!

Black and White

Homework tools. Working on projects.
That's the challenge of college; the roller coaster of being on top of things and then feeling totally overwhelmed. This semester I've been riding that coaster more than last semester. I know that it'll work out though and somehow I'll get everything I need to done. Right now I feel like I'm on the "On top of things" part of that coaster, let's see how long it lasts. The accidental charcoal on my keyboard can attest that I've been doing homework.

I felt like shooting black and white today, it's been a while since I have. I missed taking pictures of just random things. Black and White, I'll have to play with that more.

Outside the wind has been playing quite fiercely the past few days, resulting in windblown hair, ghostly sounds in cracks of doors, and cars feeling as if they were kites on the highway.
After writing this I realize this is perfect weather for tea drinking...
Off I go to make a cup of tea!
