They came today!

Photography by MB

Meet my new Teva sandals.

I am happy to announce that these are the first pair of shoes I've had that I can truly say fit like a glove. That is a huge deal for me. It's a new feeling to have shoes that really fit on my feet! You see, my feet are small (these are a size 5 - yes the smallest size they have in women's), but they are also wide and taller. So how surprised and happy was I when I put these guys on? Very.

What's cool about Teva sandals like this, is that they are super durable (which is why they're not cheap). You can wear them in the water, walking in the woods, and everywhere in-between. Love that about them. I can tell already they'll be my main footwear (when I even wear shoes) this summer. They are adventure ready and so versatile!

I am excited and pleased.

Lady of the Phlox

All Photos by MB

Lady might be a little old of a title for my 10 year old sister here.
But I came up with this idea of doing a photo shoot titled "Lady of the Phlox" and she was the only available model at the moment. What can I say, when inspiration strikes, I just want to grab my camera and go. There are a lot of phlox in our backyard as you can see, and that's where the idea came from.

If the sun had shown his face these pictures would be much better, but alas it was cloudy by the time we got her dressed and out there. If we hadn't done the shoot she would have been quite mad considering that I put her through costume, hair, and makeup.

My favorite is the last picture here.

On another note, I'm starting a summer course tomorrow. I'm taking Introductory Photography, and I am extremely excited. This will be the first photography class I've ever taken, and I can't wait to work in a dark room and develop my own photos! It promises to be a cool experience.

Freckles

Photo's taken with Photo Booth - Excuse the lesser quality

As a redhead I have freckles, no surprise there.

I have come to except the fact that my face will have them, I mean they've always been there. But I'm not ready for my body to be cover in them. Every year I notice more and more, and desperately try to think of ways to stop them from conquering my arms, legs, and shoulders. It seems inevitable that someday I will be covered in them.

I'm not quite yet at peace with this idea.

I'm saying all of this because summer is now here, and I'm out in the sun again. And by golly I've found more freckles than ever. So when I'm sitting out in the sun, like I am in these pictures, I enjoy it but at the same time dread the freckles that will mysteriously pop up out of nowhere, on my oh-so-white skin. Like someone you didn't invite over in the first place, climbing into your bed — not very polite those freckles.

Anyhow, it's not as though this is important in anyway. But perhaps there are some of you out there that can offer hope, or at least relate to this scenario. Speak up my fair-skinned friends! And to the rest of you who are freckle free and nicely tan - I am jealous.

Happy Summer!

Meet the Kittens

Yesterday we picked these two little cuties up.
Friends up the road had a litter of kittens and couldn't keep them all, so gave these guys to us!

My 10 year old sister named the girl Phoebe, and I named the boy Indiana. Indiana is my favorite and I think he fancy's me as well.

Having so much fun with them and you can be sure to see quite a few more pictures of these guys soon!

Freshman Year of College

Spring Break in Canada

It's Over.
My Freshman year of college is over.
WOW!

And now, only a week after it ended, I already I miss it.
I can't tell you how much I needed college. I needed to make friends, learn, go somewhere everyday. It really gave me so much that I needed. I learned I'm pretty good at what I do. I learned a lot about myself.

That last photo there? Yeah that building is my home. I'm gonna be practically living there for the next three years. I love that place.

I really don't know what to do with myself now that it's over. I miss my friends.
Fortunately, I'll be taking a summer course starting at the end of this month.

College was and is an awesome experience, and I look forward to new experiences, new friends, and more to learn in the 3 years I've got left! Sophomore year - here I come!
